Joanna QuintrellSpiritual Director, Executive Director of the JCA Board
Joanna Quintrell serves as the Executive Director of the Journey Center Association. It was in the year 2000 that she found herself in a spiritual crisis and first learned about spiritual direction, a gift that was life-changing and heart-transforming for her… no one had ever taught her how to nurture her own inner life with God. Joanna began her training as a spiritual director in 2003 (trained at the Mercy Center, Burlingame and the Center for Spiritual Direction in Chicago). She served as the founding director of Journey Center Santa Rosa in California through 2016 and then established the Journey Center Association in 2017. She has been the co-director of the Association’s 2-year Spiritual Director Formation Program since 2009. In addition to the joy of holding sacred space for others, Joanna loves organic gardening, hiking, traveling and grand-parenting. She and her husband live in Santa Rosa, California.
Mindy BraunExecutive Director of Journey Center Santa Rosa
Mindy was drawn to the Journey Center because of the radical hospitality and oasis of rest it provides while at the same time having a clear mission to bring healing and wholeness through encountering the Holy. She is married and homeschools their three young men in addition to being a certified health coach.
Mindy is currently enrolled in the Spiritual Director Formation Program. Her passion is to create safe, sacred spaces for all people to experience love and belonging. One way she does this is through facilitating a group that aims to build bridges to bring racial reconciliation and unity in our community. She also hosts the monthly God In Nature Hike.
Her favorite spiritual practices are either art journaling, tending her garden, or hiking in the forest.
Oasis For Activists: Group Spiritual Direction for Resilience and Refreshment
You have a heart for social justice – whether you are just becoming “awake” or if you’ve been in this work for a long time. You are longing for a place to refresh your spirit and build resilience as you deepen your discernment in how the Spirit is inviting you to respond to the call to justice.
Coupling contemplation with social action will enable you to build resilience for the long haul. Maybe you don’t want to feel so alone in this work. Contemplation is a way to nourish your spirit and fill your cup so you can pour out for others.
In group spiritual direction, you gather with others to receive and listen deeply through a spiritual practice such as lectio divina or visio divina. You will be invited to encounter the Spirit through the practice individually and then at the end, share (totally optional) with the group what you noticed or received.
Come and just be in the Presence of the One who loves you. Come and be.
Meeting once a month on the Third Wednesday at 10:00am – 11:00am.
No Fee required. Donations welcome.
