October 29 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm EDT
This is Journey Center Great Lakes event. To register please click “More Information.”
Emotions and the area of mental health have a history of being met with skepticism in some faith circles. However, Mr. Rogers, TV host, author, and ordained minister, who dedicated his life to children’s emotional well-being once said,
“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
Join our facilitator Felicia Larson for a 4-session workshop exploring Emotions, Mental Health, and Faith. Through content presentation and conversation, this course will cover some historical background and philosophical musings regarding the ways emotions and mental health have been met with skepticism in some faith circles.
This course will also highlight a biblical and practical understanding of our emotions as God-given; serving as necessary indicators that are critical to our humanity. Also, realizing that negative associations around emotional expression and a shallow understanding of mental health may rob us of important relational aspects vital to our life of faith and life in community.
Dates: Wednesday evenings: October 29, November 5, 12, and 19
Time: 4:30-6:00 pm Pacific/6:30-8:00 pm CST/7:30 – 9:00 pm EST.
Cost for 4-sessions – $200
Register now and you will be contacted in the week prior with the link.
All of the teaching times will be recorded for those who registered.
If you want to attend the series but the fee is a hardship, please contact Jennifer at jennifer@journeycentergreatlakes.org.

Felicia partners with God in the spiritual formation of leaders with her gifts of Spiritual Direction, Personal Coaching and Consulting. She enjoys empowering the next generation of leaders, mentoring them in a variety of ways. As a native Californian, Felicia loves walking through the redwoods and on the beach. Her hobbies involve working with her hands: sewing, crocheting and meditative coloring books. Learning and Input are two of her top five strengths, so reading is a favorite pastime.
