We are SO looking forward to being together again in person, this time at the lovely Mercy Center Burlingame Retreat Center, which is located about 10 minutes from San Francisco International Airport (https://mercy-center.org ). Watch this short video for an introduction to the beautiful retreat spaces and grounds we will be enjoying together- click the link and scroll down the page to the Mercy Center Tour video: https://mercy-center.org/conferences/
Our gathering begins on Wednesday, February 7 (with a Welcome Reception at 2:00 p.m.) and ends on Saturday, February 10 (closing session ends at 1:45 p.m., followed by optional informal “hanging out” until 4:00 p.m.). All who register will get a retreat packet with detailed information once it is ready.
Our gathering will be a contemplative retreat with group sessions, spiritual practices, meals together, optional outings/activities, and plenty of time for connections and conversations. Our theme, Homecoming, is an invitation to open ourselves to the One who loves us as we each continue on our personal journey of coming home to ourself, in the company of our wonderful community. Join us for this very special time of exploring, noticing and discovering where you find yourself at this season in your life, the obstacles that get in the way of coming home to yourself, and practices that make that journey possible. The first lines of a poem by Joy Cowley (Hospitality) capture the essence of our time together:
I asked Love to help me
greet the stranger in myself.
Each person attending will have their own private room on a men’s or women’s floor, with large central bathrooms/showers on each floor. The retreat center’s kitchen staff is able to accommodate dietary requirements.
We are so looking forward to being together again, and to meeting the new friends that the Spirit is drawing to our community! Thank you so much for registering by the deadline of December 15 so that we can know how many will be planning to attend, for planning purposes.
The total cost for the 4 days/3 nights is as follows (includes room, all meals, retreat materials, etc.). Note that discounts apply to groups that pay annual fees to JCA- contact Joanna if you have questions about this:
General registration = $675 per person
Associate Groups = $625 per person
Member Groups, JCA board members and planning team members = $575 per person
Please register each attendee separately and indicate whether you are making a partial payment (minimum $150 to register) or full payment, and the amount you are paying at this time…thank you!
Joanna Quintrell serves as the Executive Director of the Journey Center Association. It was in the year 2000 that she found herself in a spiritual crisis and first learned about spiritual direction, a gift that was life-changing and heart-transforming for her… no one had ever taught her how to nurture her own inner life with God. Joanna began her training as a spiritual director in 2003 (trained at the Mercy Center, Burlingame and the Center for Spiritual Direction in Chicago). She served as the founding director of Journey Center Santa Rosa in California through 2016 and then established the Journey Center Association in 2017. She has been the co-director of the Association’s 2-year Spiritual Director Formation Program since 2009. In addition to the joy of holding sacred space for others, Joanna loves organic gardening, hiking, traveling and grand-parenting. She and her husband live in Santa Rosa, California.
