The Journey Center has meant so much to me. Not just the community and fellowship but the practices of the Enneagram, spiritual direction and Lectio Divina have awakened me to God’s healing and loving presence and this experience has been truly transforming.
The contemplative way of the Journey Center is unique because there are no steps to follow but simply the space and encouragement to experience and encounter God and be transformed by the encounter. The Journey Center has taught me to approach God with open hands, allowing my life and circumstances to unfold by His grace and provision.
As one who doesn’t like to sit still, learning the contemplative way went against everything I had known and been but once I experienced it, I knew my life would not be the same without it. It was as if someone turned on the lights in a dark room and I suddenly could see, not just myself in a new light, but more than that I could see my life in the presence of a loving and merciful God.
I have been blessed by spiritual direction and by studying the Enneagram but my favorite practice is Lectio Divina, which means divine reading of scripture. It is here that I can sense the voice of God inviting me to come ever closer and allow His light to shine on me.
