Reflections and Resources-September by Joanna Quintrell

Greetings from the Journey Center staff!

I am sitting at my kitchen table, looking out the back door. Our large maple tree is losing its leaves and there is a continual “piling up” going on back there! This and other signs remind me that the seasons are changing once again. It seems like I just planted tiny bell pepper and winter squash seedlings, wondering if they would grow, and now they are offering their bountiful harvest and their time of fruitfulness is almost over. My time in the garden is beginning to focus now on cleaning up, removing summer plants and preparing for the changes in temperature that will soon be here. It is time to begin planting the cool-weather crops of fall and winter, to cut back on watering and to think about a whole new set of vegetables from which I’ll be creating our meals.

Are the seasons changing in your spiritual life right now? Perhaps you’ve been through a difficult time and you are now beginning to sense a shift towards peace and stability with an accompanying longing for a new experience of the Holy. Or maybe there are storm clouds gathering on the horizon and you are aware that you will need some new resources to draw from and new avenues for staying deeply connected to God. As we take the time to notice where we are on our journey, it helps to give thoughtful reflection to what is needed for support, nourishment and wisdom.

The Journey Center resources described in this email are offered to you in the hope that something here might be just the thing that the Spirit is inviting you to experience this month. We invite you to listen for that prompting as you read about the groups, workshops, retreats, gatherings and other events that are taking place soon. Thank you for contacting us to register if you are planning to attend. You can do so by calling us at 707-578-2121 or online at . We look forward to being an oasis for you during the transitions and new seasons of your life!
